Are there errors on your Credit Report?

Shopping for a car… or a home? Applying for a job? Or just getting your finances in order? Well, then it’s time to check your credit report. Your credit report has information about your finances, bill payments, and bankruptcy history. Businesses use your credit report to evaluate your application if you apply for a loan or a job.

Federal law says you can get a FREE copy of your credit report every year, from EACH of the three national credit reporting companies.

How do you order a TRULY free credit report? Go to AnnualCreditReport.com, the only authorized website for free credit reports. Or call 877-322-8228.  While you can obtain the report online, we recommend that you actually download the request card from the FTC and mail it.  That way, you do not lose any rights in the event that the credit reporting bureau has made a big mistake!

If you notice an error on your report, contact the credit reporting company AND the business that reported the information – by certified mail. Ask them to correct the error.  Call us, we can help, too.

If you have questions about your rights under the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act), contact the Consumer Protection Lawyers at Paramount Law.
