Corporations are Working to Keep Louisiana Robocalls Harassing Consumers

Last month, Americans received record numbers of robocalls. Yet, big banks and corporations are working harder along with the Trump administration to facilitate even more ways to allow those annoying Louisiana robocalls harassing consumers.

Louisiana Robocalls Harassing Consumers Rising

It is becoming rarer for days to go by when the average consumer does not receive a robocall. The anticipation and anxiety of receiving robocalls can be overwhelming at times and continues to harass consumers. According to YouMail, there were 4 billion robo-calls in June of this year. Worse, approximately 1 billion of those calls were attempted scams to steal financial information from innocent consumers. As such, they still contribute to Louisiana robocalls harassing consumers.

The same tactics used by these scam artists are also employed by corporations from the United States including Navient, Sirius XM, and Capital One. This technology operates by using auto-dialing machines to randomly dial consumers and request information, payment, or encourage a specific conduct for the respective companies’ benefit.

Corporation Lobbyist & Trump Admin Allow Louisiana Robocalls Harassing Consumers

These corporations are actively lobbying with the Trump Administration specifically to prevent more rules to catch up with robocall conduct as technology improves and adapts. Some public-interest advocates believe that avenues of calls and texts may stream to Louisiana robocalls harassing consumers in drones with little to no protection if the lobbying with the Trump administration continues.

According to a senior attorney at the Nation Consumer Law Center, Margot Saunders, “[w]e are at serious risk of seeing the existing robo-call problem … get far, far worse.” Without government regulations such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act increasing to match the evolving robo-call technology, the industry may be “permitted to send unlimited texts and make unlimited [robocalls], without the ability of the consumer to say stop.”

The Federal Communications Commission is responsible for regulating robocalls and reportedly researching a best response to a recent court decision that disallowed the agency’s proceeding set of proposed regulations. Regardless of any new regulations, the best response against Louisiana robocalls harassing consumers is to contact a a consumer advocate attorney such as those at Paramount Law today.
